Unlike their human counterparts, who have regular work locations, birds and bees fly tirelessly around doing their work remotely.
Bees gather pollen. And birds, well, they fly around and eat bugs, right? Isn’t that what they do? On rare occasions, I’ve been able to catch them in the act as they work remotely.
Bees stop on the flowers long enough to walk around and gather pollen on their legs transporting it from spot to spot or to their hives.
Bees don’t seem too bothered by other bugs who are working the remote spots they find to land.
Birds stop to perch on fences to preen themselves between work shifts.
This little guy appears ready for his next task or perhaps a better bathing spot?
Or maybe called to duty to catch a bug he saw? Either way, done with preening and off he flew.
Water is very important to birds and is a great way to draw them to the yard. We love to fill our bird bath with fresh water. It is fun to see which birds were waiting around to take a bath.
The cute little birds come flying in to preen themselves or to cool down, depending upon how hot it is outside. Sometimes it is only one bird who gets the bath all to himself. Lucky little guy.
I love to watch them dive in head first to get really clean. This guy even created a little wave over his head.
Other times a flock of birds show up and have a splash fest. The way they splash around is why we have to fill the bird bath so often.
They sure make taking a bath look like fun. Wonder if they are ever stressed about what work needs to get done after they bathe? Maybe a bird bath is like a spa to them?
Perhaps working remotely for them is flying from bird bath to bird bath? Or maybe they do their best work after they’ve cleaned up their feathers? This group looks like they’re having a post-bath meeting discussing where they’ll fly off to next.
