We missed a middle age train wreck

If only we could be prophetic by listening to our bodies when they sound off early warning bells.  We hear them, but think they are far off in the distance and not approaching us yet.

We’re different, we think we can beat the odds.  We can skirt our genes and miss the train wrecks of health as we age.

This week, we met the train, jumped on it for a few days in the hospital to find out what the hell where are you taking us?  We found out we’re okay, but the route we were on isn’t the best for a couple in the middle age of life.

We’re thankful the warning sign train stopped us without crashing into us and wrecking more than it did.  From zero to 5 medications in a flash, it’s new to us to be on the “it’s common for someone your age” train.

Now it is time to take a new path.  One we didn’t plan for.  One we’re both a bit nervous to take, but we know it is best to do so.

And…I’m gonna blog about it too.  Just not sure how yet, still processing the newness, but I’m sure there will be more to come.  Stay tuned…

  1. Glad you’re okay (I think). Was wondering about you. This aging stuff – not fun. I don’t always like the new reality. Takes some getting used to!

    1. Thank you, we’re okay…still figuring out what this all means, but we’re open to doing so, hoping that mindset will make the difference. Your concern means a lot to me (us), thank you!

  2. I was concerned about you since you hadn’t posted anything in a few days. Was hoping it was because of something pleasant instead of unpleasant. I’m so sorry to hear it was unpleasant. Really glad you’re back and wishing you both the best!

  3. It’s a reminder that we get every now and then. Hope you can ride this train out and get on the next one which has less bumps and rattles. Take it easy for a while x

  4. Missed your daily posts but thought I had read you were going out of town. Sorry to hear it wasn’t quite that. I spent last night in the ER with my 95 year old mother so aging and the process is real for me too! Sending hugs and positive thoughts!

    1. Thank you, Janet. It was going to only be a couple of days away from writing but turned into longer than planned. Sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she’s doing okay and that your experience at the ER was okay as well. Sending hugs and positive thoughts your way too!
