The important things in a cat’s life

In my opinion, Dessy, aka the largest one of the furry members of the family, I’ve found 3-4 things around here that are particularly important when it comes to living the life of luxury as a cat.

My life revolves around food, first, and foremost.  As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a large-sized cat and I require enough calories to fill my belly on a regular basis.  More often would be better, but the more I meow, the more I irritate the Mr. who has control over the dispensing of the food.

My food consumption may contribute to my girth.  I hear there are charts at the vet’s office that would categorize me as cat-ton-ically obese. I don’t know if I agree or not, but I’m not a professional vet, only an exceptional connoisseur of food.  I guess I may have some redundant fluff going on, but I’m cute.  And that’s what counts the most, in my opinion.

Second to food, are spots large enough for me to lay on.  An island all my own is nice.

I stick around wide open spaces until someone comes along and irritates me with a clicking noise that rarely involves any type of food.

Thirdly, I find strolling through the house finding things to investigate and toss a paw or two at – to show I’m intrigued – are kind of fun.  It keeps the humans happy when I do that.  They chuckle when I run after toys making my belly slosh back and forth.  Those moments always get a good belly laugh from the humans.

A bonus day of excitement for me is when the human’s bed receives fresh linens.  Now we’re talking about FUN.  I like to be the first one there, and stare down at the others who think they should join me.  I look scary when I’m blurry.

I don’t know why humans want to wash away the scents we pets had meticulously arranged on the covers.  But, I get over it by winning turf wars.  Once new linens are placed on the bed, we, the pets, take the prompt opportunity to reclaim and make sure it is habitable once again.

I put up with my other furry companions joining me on the job I could do well all by myself.  Frankly, I don’t get why he can’t sit still for photos.  He’s always nervous and chewing on those stinky toys of his.  Jeez, pal, settle down…chill, relax, like me.

And my sister, well, she’s too freaked out that I (we) got here first, so she swoops in, sniffs around and heads off to gawk at us from afar.  I know she comes back later and remarks stuff.  I put up with a lot I tell ya.

The new bed the humans have is extra comfy and big enough for the three of us (or five when the humans are sleeping).  Ah…it’s so nice here with the new linens.

But when the Mr. leaves the room, after he and the Mrs. finish donning bed with freshly washed linens, I know he’s off to make supper.  And that means you guessed it – food for me!  I must keep a watchful eye on him at all times.  I adore him.  Probably as much as my brother adores the Mrs.

Wait…what’s that?  I heard a scratching noise.  I should play along.  Yep, I saw something move, I know I did…

With minimal effort and my adorable face posing for her, I’ve successfully reclaimed my turf on the bed, gave the human-camera-clicking-machine some ammo for another blog post, and I meander my way past my brother to jump off the bed.

I ran fast and swung my fluff all the way to the kitchen for some dinner.  You have to just imagine that scene, I was too fast for the Mrs. to catch me on film – I was a massive blur for sure!

Happy Sunday all – thanks for stopping by to take a peek in our quirky little world!  Feel free to share your linen changing thoughts – especially if your pets help you!

    1. LOL- he made a delicious omelet! I’m sure I’ll find a use for the picture I took of breakfast on a later post :-)!

    1. I found it, it only showed up on my Google+ page…why there and not on my blog…? I’ve yet to figure that out!

  1. So cute, and so helpful, aren’t they! Cricket loves being made up in the bed when I change the sheets, letting me completely cover her. She also helps with freshly dried laundry by helping ‘fold’ the things by kneading them all. 🙂
