The first snow – from a little dog’s point of view

Hey – it’s me Copper here.

Woof, woof, it snowed.  What’s the big deal about snow?  I’m not a fan of it.

Being of short stature, snow is a little more than chilly to me.  Have you ever tried peeing and pooping in the snow?  It takes a lot of skill to do so.  I have a tripod pose when I do my business.  I find it’s imperative not to let the snow touch parts of me that aren’t supposed to be exposed to the cold!  The first snow I always feel a bit out of practice, but I get the job done.

Don’t get me wrong, I guess the snow is pretty and all.  But seriously, you know what snow means to a little dog right?

Aside from the private part issues, my feet get cold and wet and then someone will have to wipe them when I go back inside.  I hate it when they do that!  Grrr.

Worst thing of all, the bunny nuggets are harder for me to find.  Sometimes they are even frozen when I find them.  Not exactly fresh if you know what I mean?  Double Grrr.

What’s a dog to do?

I rely on my humans of course!  They surrender to my every little whim.  Especially when I come back to the door all adorable like.  I throw on an extra layer of shivering and shaking to really get my point across.  They can’t help but rescue me.  Ahh…I’m so lucky to be a little dog.

I adore my main shovel master.  He paves a path for me so I don’t have to walk in the snow.  He takes so much care creating it for me.  Sometimes even with a big snow blowing machine.  He’s amazing, ahh…the power he has!  Woof, woof, go man, go!  He doesn’t mind that I just use the path to launch from.  I wouldn’t want to mess it up by using it as my bathroom zone.  Dogs must always venture out into uncharted territory to do our business.  It’s a well-known fact, white snow doesn’t turn yellow or brown on its own.

Being a little short of bunny nuggets at this time of year, my in the house appetite tends to grow.  My humans come to the rescue again.  I’m so tickled they understand me.  As broken as I may appear to be, they get me. They serve me my meals just the way I love them to be served.  img_1921

Mighty dog, culinary style, on the floor, chopped up nicely and easy to scarf up.

WTH?

Jeez…don’t judge me.img_1920

I’m scared of bowls.  They move on the floor while I eat from them.

Don’t worry about me or the floor!  Really?!

Yes, I always lick up the floor and clean up after myself.  I’m convinced my extra care of the floor makes this compulsion normal in a dog’s kind of way.

Oh woof, snow is in the forecast again today.

Time for a long winter’s nap in one of my cozy spots.  When you see me wiggling my legs or woofing in my dreams, don’t worry, this dog is dreaming of summer time and chasing bunnies.

Now that’s a good way to get over the stress of the first snow!

Let it snow, let it snow!

PS – feel free to leave me a message if you have any tips on how to find bunny nuggets in the snow?  Is my best bet right after a chase?
