The day I looked out to discover I’m not short after all

Well, I’ll be snowdamned, according to the weather predicting folks…

I’m not short!

ATapeMeasureCapture

At 5′ 3 1/2″ I’m slightly taller than our official measurement of snowfall for February 2019 (which, by the way, was taken yesterday, before the snowfall of last night continuing on into this morning!).

50.7 inches is tall in the snow measuring world!

I’m still taller though.

So, therefore, I proclaim I’m not short after all.

The true way to be humble is not to stoop until you are smaller than yourself, but to stand at your real height against some higher nature that will show you what the real smallness of your greatness is. – Phillips Brooks

Copper looked at me like I’m nuts, as I expressed my words of wisdom about how I (Mr.) wasn’t going to shovel yet, but he could still go out in it, all he’d have to do is run fast, do his thing, and come back in quickly, right before…

I tossed the poor little pup out into it.

He leapt through belly-high snow, paused to do his job,

and turned around and jumped right back in.

Just look at that fence, it is being consumed by the snowdrift now ready to crest over it to connect seamlessly with the other side.

I’m convinced the blasted groundhog is buried in there somewhere.  Messing with the controls on the snow-globe that keeps spinning and spilling all over our yard.

But, on a positive note, like I said, I’m not short compared to our snowfall.  It is only the 27th…there is one more day in February…then we’ll be jamming our way into March!

PS – Have you seen the groundhog lately?  He’s not real, is he/she?  Trust me, in March, when I’m gone on vacation, you won’t hear anything from me about the snow.  Yeah, I’m looking forward to that too!  I’ve added jamming happy dances to my exercise routine.  It’s a funny sight to see, you’ll just have to trust me on that.

  1. It’s good the February is such a short month. On the other hand, March doesn’t have a good track record here. You’re lucky Copper will go on his own. Maddie will not go anywhere or do anything unless she’s tethered to one of us.

Pretty soon, sunshine and ocean breezes – hang in there.

    1. I’m in pre-beach mode, a mid-March break will hopefully make March short for me too! Yes, Copper is brave for his size, plus a fenced in area to roam (when fully shoveled) helps encourage him to go out there to do his thing! Thank you for encouraging me to keep hangin’ in there!!

  2. Only 5’3″? You look much taller. Actually, you look like my cousin-in-law, who’s one of the tallest women I’ve ever seen.

The whole Groundhog Day thing translates to this: if he sees his shadow, there are six more weeks of winter. If he doesn’t, spring is just around the corner, and will get here in about six weeks.

    1. LOL! Yep, I’m only 5’3″. I’ve never heard that I look tall, that’s awesome, I’ll go with that for the day! Yeah, and the groundhog is unreliable either way :-)!

  3. Poor, poor little Copper! Probably no one looks forward to spring more than he does! If you are not short, that means I am not short either! I’m kind of medium – 5′ 4 1/2″.

    1. Yes, he’s so ready for spring! You’re officially taller than petite. Supposedly 5.4 is the cut-off for petite height. So yeah, you’re not short!!

  4. That’s a lot of snow in one month Shelley. We had 62 inches the entire Winter season last year. Well good things come in small packages. I am 5′ 9″ tall.

    1. It was a record 46.7″ more than normal, that’s what we usually get for the season. We’re supposed to get 4″ inches tomorrow. Oh Joy! Welcome March!

      1. Oh I’d be so discouraged and sick of snow. I felt that way last year and I was shoveling the neighbors and my property. I see he doesn’t bother to shovel, just looked outside to see how light it was … we have a hefty ticket ($130.00 I believe for first offense) … hope he gets slammed.

        1. Do I sense a bit of snarkiness? I’ve been inflicted with the same! Good thing we’ve got each other to complain to!! 😉

    1. LOL – I like your thinking! If I they don’t press down on my poof of hair at the top, I can get a pass to 5’4″ no prob!

  5. Oh my this sure looks familiar to me. I don’t know what the total accumulation has been so for this year but it has been a tough one in many places.
