Well, hello, August 1st. How in the world did you get here so fast?
WOW – I don’t know about you, but the 31 days of July were a blur.
The long month ended in our neck of the woods with smoke-filled skies. Mr. and I spent a bit too much time in it yesterday…
The smoke didn’t seem to bother the hummingbirds who are back to visit us. It helped that we put fresh sugar water in the feeder. So there’s that for some fun news to share.
And their arrival has fascinated Dessy. She likes to watch the battle of the little birds claiming their sugary treat. Dessy goes from lounging to sitting upright faster than a hummingbird in flight. Her redundant fluffy girth isn’t exactly svelte.
Even with all of that excitement, I’m still at a loss for words.
Lucky for me, and you, Dessy’s photo will draw some clever wordy thoughts out of YOU! 😉😊 And thanks to Linda for her clever SOCS prompt.
Tell me (us) the first word that comes to your mind when you see this last photo. Belly rolls, please?!
Post Inspiration – Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the last photo you took.” Take the last photo you snapped. What’s the first word that comes to mind when you look at it? That word is your prompt. Enjoy!
PS – I hope you are well, that you have clear air to breathe, and that your words of wisdom you’ll drop here in comments inspire us all!
Dessy is a beautiful girl! The photo shows the smoke well, wow, I hope you guys get some clean air soon! No smoke down here, just heat. 😂🔥
Aw, thanks, John. Dessy is a beautiful cat. Yes, the smoke was really bad – we ended up feeling not so great on Sunday after having been out in it much of the day Saturday. By late afternoon on Sunday the smoke has mostly cleared.
I hope your new AC unit is working well! Wow – it lasted 25 years, that’s amazing!
Yep, all those years! That smoke is so bad for people, I hope it’s gone soon!
The smoke hasn’t left yet – it keeps coming and going in between rain storms. I hope your air gets better soon too.
Wow. It’s still here but not as thick earlt this morning. Yuk.
That’s how it was for us too, not as thick early in the morning. It is yucky for sure!
I love the way cats stare at birds. It’s why we have shelves on almost every window in the house.
Yes, indeed – cat eyes are fascinating. I love the little cackle/chatter noise they make and their tail twitches too!
Way to spoil your cats with shelves. We’re afraid Dessy might break them if she jumped on them. I do think she’d enjoy the views though…🤔😉
Our first cat was 18 pounds at his fighting weight. The shelves survived,
Wow – that’s a big cat! I had to weigh Dessy to compare – she’s 15.6#s! There’s hope for her and a shelf system…!
Oreo was a Maine Coon cat (at least partly). He was a big boy.
Yes, that’s a big cat!
Dessy has gorgeous eyes…
Aw, yes, thank you, I agree. That sounds like a title of a song ………… 😉😁
Congrats to you on having the tongue rolling gene too! That’s such a fun photo of you for your SOCS!
When I see the words Last Photo I think of me 😂😂

YES! Your Last Photo prompt is fun! I like your eclectic mix this past month, what’s the dude in the grass doing?
I am glad you like the fun of Last on the Card Shelley 🙂 🙂
Always do!
😀👍
What a beautiful cat!
Aw, thanks, Dawn, Dessy appreciates the kudos!
We’ve been having mediocre air quality days here. I dislike them. They make me feel apprehensive and snarly. I need to take a page from Dessy’s book and just chill out.
I’m with you on the feelings the poor air quality days bring on. We’ve had rain on top of that, so it’s been plenty of weird moods to work through. Dessy, on the other hand appears ‘normal’. 😉
The first thing I thought when I saw Dessy’s photo was what a beautiful color her eyes are. I think she’d be indignant if we talked about her weight. We’d have to say she’s not fat, just extra fluffy. 🙂
Aw, yes, she does have lovely eyes. They manipulate us often. She doesn’t appear to be offended when we tease her about her weight. She is definitely extra fluffy!
Dessy’s turquoise eyes are mesmerizing and that first picture is amazingly close-up and detailed. July whizzed by, a slew of ugly weather days and I thought of you for the severe weather recently. I wasn’t thinking of your funky air. You look up and see smoky air, you look down and see algae bloom. This is not your grandfather’s Summer!
Aw, thanks, Dessy loves your description of her eyes! Yes, I agree – it’s not our grandfather’s Summer – it’s been weird. The storms that have gone through this week have been very weird. I hope they don’t head your way!
Very beautiful eyes Shelley! We are slated for severe weather again on Tuesday afternoon … I knew the nice, cool weather was not going to last long.
