Sunset quartet

I admire a photo that speaks to me.  One that takes me right back to the moment it was taken; or better yet, to the moment of awe, I felt at that second in time.  I know then that the moment was one that touched my soul.

Any frantic feelings I had during the stress of traveling vanish the moment I step my feet on the sandy beach.

Every single photo of the sea we’ve taken on our trips to Jamaica does exactly that for me.  I feel the anticipation of endless possibilities draw me in when I look at the sea.  I never tire of admiring the view.

The first time we took our kids to Jamaica – this was the view the night we arrived.

Here is a quartet of sunrise – sunset photos that take me back to a happy place.

A quiet beach before the crowds appear.

A silent walk on the beach after the crowds clear.

A playful moment before the sun begins to set.

A corny pose, just because.

My happy place; my favorite guy; my favorite beach; my favorite sunset view all rolled into one (a quartet of) love.

  1. I’m a bit like that with the sea too. I grew up in a Cumbrian fishing village with miles of clean beaches and sand dunes, great for kids. Mountains behind us too. Until recently we had a holiday home 50 metres from the sea, we have a cruise most years and at least once a year have a holiday at a Mediterranean coastal town or on an Island like Lanzarote. I like to fish from the beach too …. fresh cod, sea bass, mackerel ….. 🌊 🌊 🏖

    1. Sounds beautiful!…do you have posts I could read about your adventures with the beach and your fishing excursions?

      1. Absolutely none! We had no internet there sandwiched between the sea and the mountains on a very narrow coastal strip

        1. Link worked! Thank you for sharing the photos; great shots of beaches, boats, tiny toad, buildings, people, smiles, and birds! :-)!!

          1. How about blogging about your town, village or area, history, culture, industry, people? It would be very interesting. A year back we spent a month visiting all the medieval churches around us. The stories, history, architecture was great fun, the great plague, abandoned villages, monuments, etc.

          2. Great ideas, Dr. B!! Thank you for the suggestions. Tune in…the change of seasons fosters that kind of exploration in Wisconsin!

          3. Looking forward to it. It’s a great way for your followers to learn something about a new place, not touristy! I call it local travel, own area. Also Dr C and I are taking a year to Travel England, five regions one at a time every 2-3 months a week at a time.

          4. I like that concept as well – and I look forward to reading about your travels with Dr. C to England. I’ll travel through your words and photos as you go exploring!

          5. Already done two regions last year, learned loads of historical stuff about our own country. Just waiting for warmer weather to begin our next region. On my blog, tap England at the top or from the menu and all is revealed. I would love to hear what you think.

          6. I love the quick glimpses of where you were at in the journey, just like a postcard (clever) – the brevity draws the reader into wanting to hear more!

          7. I’ll have to check more out – gotta go to work now, I’m still one of “those” kind of people! 😉 PS – We probably bumped into each other in Chicago and didn’t even know it!! It’s lovely in Chicago in May!

          8. You’re right, great post! – Thank you for the positive feedback about our customer service here in the US. We love it when we shine at providing memorable experiences to our establishments.

  2. How beautiful the pictures and the love shared by you and your husband. We are leaving for Portugal tomorrow and I can’t wait to sit again and watch the ocean an feel its peace suction off my stress. Happy travels.
