SOS it’s September already…

SOS – Sh*t who Ordered September?  How did the calendar round again to September?  I’m calling an SOS to all who are in the same boat of “We’ve got Sh*t to take care of before the snow flies.”

Are you ready for September?

I declare war on what has accumulated as undone Sh*t since all of my slacking off for the past 7 weeks, due to circumstances beyond my control (bike crash).

Like our forefathers who started battles before me, I know there comes a time when things just have to be started.

It is time to get around to it!  Be the Boss.  Be the hero.

September is the perfect month when it comes to pleasant weather to work hard and throw a labor of love into getting Sh*t done.

September is our month of love it, or leave it behind, for me and Mr.  We love it because it ends with a celebration of our 29th year of marriage.  We leave it behind with a “Whew, I’m glad that month is over” feeling.  Not that we wish time to fly by, but it is because we always seem to have a big project that comes our way in September.

This month, it is a bittersweet project that started over 8 weeks ago and isn’t done yet.  We’ve successfully had the court approve an eviction of a renter who I can’t find any kind of nice words to describe.  The “I’ll get around to paying rent” failed to prove true.  The gloomy mood from yesterday was lifted when we received confirmation the appeal was denied, so it’s official their arse is going to be removed from the premises.  And then the Sh*t left behind will have to be dealt with.  I can’t wait to tell you about the mystery of what has been left behind – ‘cuz yeah, the landlord can’t go in to see the premises until the person has been evicted.

The battle may end, but there’s always clean up afterward…

Before that, though, we’re going to kick off and move our arses to our favorite charity race, enjoy lunch at a favorite restaurant, and then take a nap.  (I do anyhow).  Our oldest daughter came home for a visit to join us in the run.  It’ll be her 7th year, Mr.’s 10th year, and my 14th year doing the run/race.  It’s the 36th year of the Buckshot Run (read history here).

This year though, I’ll be taking the last place in my age group since I’ll be walking instead of running.  Last year I took first in my age group and won a medal.  Yay Me!  But I didn’t always run, I walked for the first two years, and it was fun, so I’m excited to take a different view with a rapid walking pace instead of running at warp speed.  (LOL – I’ve never done that, but it’s nice to imagine it, right?)

When we round the corner to cross the finish line, we’ll be smiling!

Thankful for another day to be physically active together and the energy and stamina to kick the Sh*t Out of September.

PS – What do you have planned for September?  Are you up for holding me accountable for kicking some Sh*t Out of September?  I hear after the blues (aka yesterday’s post), anger hits…then peace…then denial…then acceptance, Oy-I’m all over the board!

  1. I had plans for the hardwood but it was just too humid and hot this summer…will September be kind for us to get it done?

    Hope so. 🍇🍎🍐🍑🍏

    1. I hope so! One of the ladies that I volunteer with said she took a week off of work next week to put their hardwood floors in, I think you’re on to something – you’ll be able to get it done in September!

  2. My college starts in September. And I know it, I can feel it in my bones, that it’s going to be a exhausting, happy rollercoaster ride, so I’m kind of all pumped up for it!
I have no idea if my assumptions are going to come true or get even worse.
    But there’s no going back!
    A good post btw! 😊

    1. Congratulations! Enjoy the rollercoaster – and enjoy writing about the adventure. Love the look of your new blog! Thank you for stopping by!

  3. Growing up my parents had four rent houses as a source of extra income. My dad was a softy. He’d waive late fees, take partial payments and allow them to say “I will pay you the rest as soon as I can”. I remember many times where the tenants vacated in the dark of night 3 or 4 months in arrears. He always said God bless em, they needed it more than we do. And then the cleaning would begin to make ready for the next tenant. I have some horror stories of what was left behind and/or damaged.

    1. Ah, you know how we feel! We’ve had those who choose to leave when they know they can’t pay and we feel much like your dad in those situations. This one is a, ‘nope, you gotta make me leave or I’m staying for free’. Grr. I can’t wait to hear more about your horror stories when I start to share ours! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

  4. With no kids in school to worry about anymore, September is just another month. We do have an annual golf tournament that my husband and a friend of his started 21 years ago so we’ll be taking a mini vacation in a couple of weeks and two more concerts this month as well. I’m still looking for something interesting to use as a September blogging theme. Guess I better get on it!

    1. That’s kind of how I feel about the month now that we don’t have anything to get ready for other than a rental to clean. In retrospect, school prep and all that activity was way more fun! Enjoy the activities that you’ve planned, they sound fun! Maybe we’re meant to figure out an awesome October challenge throughout the month of September? Let me know if you find something for September!

  5. Spring is my favorite season but fall is next. I love the air cooling off, hoping snow waits until December to show is unwanted head. Thats what I get for moving from Ga. to Iowa. But summers are so much better. Fall means football and when football is over its time to get ready for Christmas. That is my season. I start decorating in November and it can get ridiculous at time but this year may be different. We will see. I am so glad you are at least getting to participate in something you love. You will be stronger and ready for the next run.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Anita! Oh, my, yes from GA to IA that’s a difference. I love all the seasons, each for their own reason. But I do love Fall. You’re just like the Danish when it comes to Christmas – have you read books about Hygge? They talk about preparations for winter and especially Christmas! Thank you for your kind wishes, I’m happy to report I even ran a bit yesterday, so the pampered approach to healing has helped! Yes, NEXT year I’ll be fine to run I hope!

      1. I will have to look up Hygge. I am not familiar with it. My daughter and I both keep the craft stores in business at Christmas. I will post pictures when its time,
