In the wee (not yet pee) hours of the morning, I was dreaming about elegance. Deep into, what I remember as a really great dream. It was peaceful – you know the kind of stuff a great blog post is made of.
And then…I felt a thump on the bed and covers shifting off my side as this massive blob of a cat sneaks her way toward the head of the bed (right by my head), and PHFISSSST – she sneezes and sprays directly on my face.
Nothing surpasses the beauty and elegance of a bad idea. – Craig Bruce
Of course, I’m shocked awake (WTH-just happened?) and I rolled over to the other side, facing away from her while I attempted to get back to a state of peaceful slumber – where I was in my dream, pre-sneeze session (my mind begins to spin – why is it is impossible to get back into a dream when you want to? – Oh crap, I’m THINKING instead of sleeping…).
PHFISSSST – spray (really, again?) – PHFISSSST – spray (come on, just stop already) – PHFISSSST – spray –(you’ve got to be fricken’ kidding me) PHFISSSST – spray – (ugh…I’m never going to get back to sleep)! I roll slightly (must keep pillow covering my face to avoid the spray) and try to push my hand in her direction hoping she’ll just leave instead of continuing on.
She leans into my hand and starts to purrrrrrrrr (well, that didn’t work).
Dessy stays, falls asleep instantly as if nothing had happened. And then she starts to snore. At least it was better than her sneezing and spraying. Her snore (sometimes) is a cute rhythmic noise.
The only thing I was trying to portray was serenity. Also, innocence, vulnerability and elegance. – Sylvia Kristel
I must have dozed off briefly?
The covers shift again as she rises up to block the light from the alarm clock and descends to the foot of the bed. Shakes a bit as she performs her about-to-launch-my-redundant-tissue-butt-shake and THUD, she lands on the floor. And PHFISSSST – spray – leaves her marks behind as she takes her next sneezing session to another room.
I’m exhausted and glad she left (what little petting compassion I had earlier left me by now).
Now, where was I in that dream?? It seems like two hours had passed. I fall back to sleep, dream about wanting to get some sleep, and then Copper sneezes and does his little man cough. (Sh*t? – why do I want to swear so much tonight…not very ladylike of me…)
Sleep is simply not in the cards for me, I might as well get up – besides the pee thing from the beginning of this session is really what Copper is telling me he needs to do. He has to do his job – he sneezes – PHFISSSST – let’s go NOW already! (Sigh…truth is my bladder is in tune with his!)
Our simple little daily routine is kick-started once again.
Don’t get me wrong, I admire elegance and have an appreciation of the finer things in life. But to me, beauty lies in simplicity. – Mark Hyman
PHFISSSST – spray – there she goes again…I wonder if eating tinsel causes cats to sneeze?
Ahhh, cats! I hope it’s just the tinsel, BTW, because when a cat or dog catches cold I’m pretty sure it’s time for a vet visit ASAP. Probably the tinsel. Silly cat – go for the mistletoe — then she can’t refuse you!
Ellen, thanks for stopping by! We hope it’s the tinsel too – she seems to be getting better instead of worse. But we’re keeping an eye on her and will definitely take her in if symptoms worsen. I’ll have to get some mistletoe for her in the meantime!
