DIY projects never seem to have an end. There’s always one more thing to do, and one more item to wait on. You have to keep one eye open all the time to make sure all the moving parts come together in the end.
But, dang it, it feels great when the biggest obstacle (so far) is behind us instead of in front of us.
We knew we’re at a good stage in the project when Dessy reappeared – she came out of hiding to make her presence known. She also didn’t want Tizzie to get all the spotlight. She wanted to play or lay in our way, too. So we’d pay attention to her for a change of pace.
She came out from the cardboard box she hides in after the tools were all put away, and the countertops back in their spaces (not ready for use yet, but at least they all fit!!!).
As the sun was setting on the horizon, we munched on takeout pizza, rinsed down with a beer, and watched the dismal Packer game. That wasn’t the highlight of the night or day. I heard they thought they were tired from traveling? I think they were MIA?!
All I know is we were tired and ready for rest.
That’s for sure…I’m still tired, so here’s a quick sneak peek…Mr. is one clever dude.
Tizzie had to share her couch cushion with him to get the job done.
Copper kept his eye-out on us from a safe distance. Keeping clear of moving objects is a good thing for a small dog to consider.
And ta-da the misfit corner fits. I can’t wait to tell you how we pulled it off, but I’m too tired to share today – soon, though!!
And now it’s time for me to finish painting, due to a last-minute design change, and then we’ll install the tile backsplash.
Meanwhile, Mr. is onto his next big part of the project – his cooking space is getting a facelift and a new range-topper…hopefully that will be done before the sink arrives for him to install that. We’re going to need to return the stove to its spot to cook the Thanksgiving dinner. It won’t work out in the garage!
Stay tuned…I so adore your feedback and support, as do the pets! xx
Post Inspiration (a late entry to Sunday Stills – All about Pets).
PS – I hope you had a great weekend!! Thank you for cheering us on this project. I can’t wait to show you how clever Mr. was in figuring out how to pull off the countertop install. What did you do for fun? Did you eat Halloween candy?
Your kitchen is going to be LOVELY! So much hard work, its going to pay off.
We visited Arizona this weekend, took a little road trip, and stayed the night at my property there. We saw Javelinas and wild burros, enjoyed beautiful nature, and I most of all enjoyed the fresh air (Las Vegas is dirty.) It was a fabulous weekend.
Thank you, we hope so, it’s been a big job, not quite done yet either!
Wow – that sounds like a wonderful trip. I can’t wait to sit down for a bit and catch up on blog reading!!
You brought me many a smile with this.
Hope you’re well
xx
Aw, thank you, glad you’re smiling. I hope you’re well too – you had a racey morning from what I saw ;-)!
Lol! Just one way of dealing with things! X
We’re lucky as humans to have so many outlets :-)!
I think so too. I feel blessed to be able to write the way I do. I don’t take it for granted. Xx
The ‘almost finished phase’ is so nice. Our pets sure do not like the commotion of remodeling, do they?
Yes, it is. The anticipation is nice, I’ll really enjoy the completion phase too! Our pets are ready for it to be done!
Wow…that picture of his postion with flashlight in mouth is impressive. 😂 Clearly a can-do kinda guy. Kudos!
I did eat some Halloween candy Saturday. My DH convinced me to buy a bag even though we have never had trick or treaters in the 15 years we’ve lived here. So of course we had to eat it. But today I’m back on the straight and narrow.
LOL – yep, that’s him! We bought two candy bars, for the neighbors who didn’t show up. I haven’t seen the candy bars since…maybe Mr. ate them, he burned off a lot of calories this weekend, he deserved them. 🙂
Your Mr is hard at it! I love the counter top Shelley, great choice. Copper is so cute peeking from far away!
Yes he was/is! Thank you, we really like it too. And Copper, he’s a faithful companion. 🙂
It’s looking good. Tell the Mr I felt a twinge of pain seeing him un his back under the counter.
Thank you, Dan – you’re right on target – there were plenty of twinges felt for DAYS! I don’t know how he did it!!!
Love the countertops!
Thank you, Rebecca!!
Your home projects look exciting, Shelley! My hubby is busy too around here with repairs, upgrades etc, and I know my dogs are confused or irritated at the noises the power tools make. But in the end, our pets love us no matter where we live or what our homes look like! 😁
Thank you, Terri. You’re in the same boat, and you’re right. It is nice that pets forgive and forget so easily :-). A little extra dust and hair around doesn’t seem to bother them either. 😉
The counter tops are gorgeous and just my kinda style Too – love the ones you picked
And I think you are right hat the hardest part is done – and how fun it will be when done
–
No candy for us – ever – if we have sugar snacks or desserts it would be key lime pie or a decadent cookie –
Thanks, Yvette – we’re very pleased with our choice so far. I think you’re right – this part was very challenging. Hopefully the rest will go faster!
I’m with you on desert choices too!!!
😊😊🙏
We went out for coffee yesterday. As for Halloweeen candy, we don’t buy it because we know we’d eat it in a hurry.
A nice cup of coffee out at a cafe is a fun way to kick off the day. You’re wise to stay away from the candy!
Looking good, Shelley. I don’t blame the animals for staying out of the way. You’ve got a few weeks before Thanksgiving and I’ll bet you make it just fine.
Mr. is a smart cookie, but then … he is into cooking. 🙂
LOL – yes he is!
Can’t wait to find out how you got those counters in!
Hope you enjoyed the reveal!
