The sunshine this morning has finally helped the first daisy open up.
I’m going to have a bunch of them opening up in my garden soon, and I’m so damn excited. I can’t wait to see all their happy blossoms leaning into the warmth of the sunshine.
Daisies, simple and sweet. Daisies are the way to win my heart. – Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind
I didn’t want to miss the first daisy opening up, so I’ve been photographing it every day. A bunch of boring photos, and plenty of blurry ones, too. White objects aren’t the easiest to capture for me. Same with yellow ones.
But colorful ones, I can get. What is it with that?
But I try. Don’t worry, I’m only going to show you the ones that out of the blue tickled me with joy.
First of all, on my second attempt this morning, I discovered I wasn’t alone.
And then the rabbit bolted across the driveway and disappeared.
Then it was just me and the daisy. And a little bee. A moment of serendipity.
A tiny bee. Oh, my, how I adore moments of serendipity!
Today it is also someone very special’s birthday. I wish I could yell at the top of the world and have as many people as possible greet her and send her happy birthday wishes. You know, since I won’t see her and there’s no birthday party happening at our house today. I, on the other hand, don’t feel like I really do have a 24-year-old?! Am I going crazy as I get older, thinking that the adulting kiddos are getting older, but I’m not? Check out what the QuiteSprout has to say about that!
My youngest shared the same birthday of the month with my mom. My mom loved daisies, so today, I’m sharing daisy photos in honor of both of them. Happy Birthday, Sprout! I love you – Mom xx
PS – Post Inspiration – Linda G. Hill’s One-Liner Wednesday – First Thing That Comes to Mind and another entry into BeckyB’s #Blue and #JulySquares – rules here.
PS – Do you rush outside in the morning to see what has bloomed in your garden? Do you feel older as your youngest child thankfully has another birthday? Do you enjoy serendipitous moments in nature photography?
Shelley, those are great photos of the daisy and bee. Daisies and coneflowers are my favorites. If I had a yard, it would be filled with both!
Happy birthday to your daughter, the adult one. You don’t feel like you’re getting older because you are young at heart…or in denial! 😉
Happy Fourth of July holiday!
Thank you, Mary! I love the cone flowers too. I don’t have any of those, maybe next year I’ll try some of those. Happy Fourth of July holiday to you – I hope we both get some sunshine to enjoy while we’re celebrating!
That bunny is really hopping.
That daisy and bee picture! WOW! Nice job.
I remember when my mom used to say “I can’t believe I have a kid who is xxx years old.” And now I say it. Ha!
Thank you, Laurel – I just happened to be in the right place at the right time for the photo. Yes…last night at dinner Mr. and I just shook our heads…we don’t have a 24 and a 27 year old…! LOL!
Happy birthday to the young’un (our daughter is older). Focus on how great she turned out – you did that. Well, most of it. I think that’s worth kicking back with an adult beverage and toasting the daisies.
Thank you, Dan, you’re right! We did work hard on the project, now we can sit back and admire the collaborative effort! Cheers to kids who can live on their own! 🙂
What a beautiful photo!!
Thank you!!
Lovely photos today Shelley! I’d never have noticed those two tiny bugs. The little bunny reminds me of a Kangaroo running! The grass is soaking wet with morning dew, beautiful. That dew stopped me from mowing lawns until it dried up years ago.
Thank you, John! Yeah, the bunny does look like a Kangaroo now that you mention it. Funny that you mention the wet grass and the delay in mowing…Mr. has mentioned that many times this week. It finally dried out enough yesterday to mow it, just in time for more rain today. I hope some of the rain heads your way.
As always, amazing detailed close-up photos. I also love daisies 🙂
And – I am never old enough in my head to have children this “old” – as in over 30!! Say what?? No matter how old they get, though, we will always be their Mamas.
Thank you!! I like your take on us getting old – we will always be their Mamas! 🙂
The daisies wait to make sure it doesn’t snow. I remember one July 4 we had snow flurries…
That’s a nasty four letter word in July! ;-)!
Oh my, I love love love the bee on that daisy! Plus the bunny in mid-hop. Shoot, they’re all great. Thanks for sharing them with us!
Thank you, Laura!! Glad you enjoyed them.
Happy birthday to your sprout!
Thank you, Maggie!
The daisy and bee photos are wonderful.
oh these are lovely, and I love the tales which come with your pictures too. Thank you so much for sharing, and a very happy Bday to your daughter
Thank you, Becky!!
Hi Shelley, Happy Birthday to your daughter. It is always a Mother’s special day! I love the word, Serendipity. The way it rolls off my tongue and the meaning behind it. Your photos are spectacular, exquisite, stunning…..I run out of adjectives:)
Aw, Erica, thank you so much, we appreciate your words of encouragement!!!
Bees and daisies are perfect ways to demonstrate that Summer is finally here!
Thank you, Linda!
Incredible shots, Shelley! They capture your theme perfectly!
