Today, we are a country united in remembering. We remember those who fell for us while serving to protect us, our country, and our freedoms.
Our flags are hung at half-mast until noon.
People around the USA attend memorial services, ceremonies, and parades while others have the freedom to choose not to participate. We all can do what we want, say what we want, and write what we want. We have the freedom to choose. Some internet authors even chose to post alternate newsworthy items on the internet. Afterall, they know people are heading out traveling, so it’s a good thing to let them know gas prices are soaring. Or if you’re a sports fan it’s more important to you to know how the NFL is learning from history?
The freedom to choose how we spend our time is a gift we should all be thankful for, regardless of our beliefs. Especially about what is right or wrong in how to celebrate the holiday dedicated to remembering the fallen.
Me, I’m solemn as I reflect, not of loss of a loved one who fell in the line of duty, but of the freedom war efforts represents to those who have fallen and their families who live on in their memories. I imagine those who died would be grateful seeing us celebrate the memory of them, but more so they’d be thankful we’re carrying on in life and enjoying the freedoms they fought and died for. I’m glad as a country we pause momentarily to take a break from our busy lives and set aside time to thank them for their service and love for their country.
This day always reminds me of this song. I’ve yet to listen to it without it bringing on tears of thanks – God Bless the USA.
Thank you fallen veterans! xx
Great post. Happy Memorial Day
Thank you, same to you!
