Oh, joy, I was there at the right moment to capture the special delivery dinner Mrs. Robin had for her newly hatched robins.
Those lucky birds…gooey worms for dinner. Yuck.
But, I’ve learned that it’s best not to yuck someone else’s yum.
Enjoy the photos!
And then she launched into the tree –
Disappeared. And then quiet. All quiet – they must like her cooking?!

PS – Happy Tuesday – hope you’re having a great week. Aren’t you glad you’re not eating worms for dinner?
Great photos Shelley 🙂
Thank you, Brian!

Thank you, Rebecca!
Mmmmm I want some! 😵
They appear to be rich in protein! 😉
Makes you grateful for those opposable thumbs.
You got that right!
Mamas at work everywhere! One worm at a time…not easy! Sweet photos 🙂
It’s our gift to the world! Thank you, glad you enjoyed the photos. 🙂
Wow! Great shots, Shelley! Yuck indeed lol. Have you watched Bear Grylls’ show? He ate a worm! (shuddering)
Thanks, Winnie. 🙂 No, I haven’t seen that show. Yuck…worms…yuck. I’m shuddering too and wrinkling my nose as well. Ewe.
You’re welcome, Shelley! I know, right? Lol. I couldn’t even look. Yuck indeed.
What a cool capture! Robin looks very happy. 🙂
Thank you, Amy – she did look like a proud mamma!
Your photography is truly amazing, Shelley. Well done!
Aw, thank you, Donna, I appreciate your encouragement!!
ooh someone has a lot to take back to the nest . . . . . . . always makes me smile seeing American Robins, so different to ours!
Yes, she was a happy mamma Robin. Glad you enjoyed seeing the photos!
Ha ha – yes, not too savory looking are they? Last year I wrote a post about a robin that got a worm, and took it in the middle of the perimeter path and proceeded to slice and dice it as I watched. (And, I wondered why I would take pictures of the “Vegomatic” worm slicing – was I weird, but then I went and share it on a post on top of it. Ann Marie said it made her feel sick, something like that. When I was a kid, my parents sent me to day camp for a couple of weeks. We left on the bus in the morning, came home on time for dinner. We learned arts and crafts and sang around a campfire and this song always sticks in my mind, when I see robins eating worms:

LOL – I’m like you, fascinated to see how the animals eat. Birds don’t have thumbs like Dan said, so, their beaks need to do the work. LOL – vegomatic!! Great video, thanks for sharing!
Yes, the robin that landed on the path, had a surly look that said “mine – don’t touch” and did a number on that poor worm, while she made breakfast for the kids. P.S. – I remembered all the words to that song and it’s been many years. 🙂
LOL – a bird’s gotta do what they gotta do to feed the little ones. That song is a catchy one, no wonder you remembered the words!
