Do you wonder if you’re out of the loop in this whole minimalism thing? What are they talking about? Your house is “organized” and you know where everything is. Your collections organized and you treasure them. You’re living an organized life. But, do you really just have a lot of well-organized stuff?
What’s the big deal about having stuff around you anyhow?
It isn’t a bad thing, is it? Are the minimalism folks on to something about clutter? Is it worth a try to see if maybe you’d like minimalism? Are you game to give it a try?
First, ask yourself if you are able to determine what is clutter and what isn’t? If you can’t determine what is clutter, you could be simply numb to clutter surrounding you.
No fooling folks, clutter is everywhere, even in organized homes!
You don’t have to be living in a disorganized home to have clutter. Disorganization doesn’t help, that’s for sure!
What if you’re a minimalist in training (aka, like me and giving minimalism a chance or at the bare minimum, going lighter in your belongings) do you have clutter? There’s a way to find out.
Play The Minimalist Game to get going on removing clutter. I’m playing the game this month. It’s a contagious game, so I’m positive my husband will be catching the fever too.
But…I’m going to play the game backward.
What? Why? Well, I guess I’m just too impatient, I want to see progress fast!
Instead of on Day 1 discarding 1 thing, I’m discarding 30 items. Day 2 discarding 29 items. Day 3 – 28 items, etc. I want the end of the 30 days to be my, “Ah…that was an awesome game and whew, I’ve scored big-time-clutter-removed status!”
A big dream? Impossible you say? Nah, no fooling…I’m not kidding it is possible!
Know why?
I have a predetermined list of 30 areas or categories to pick from to keep the momentum going. There is no way to fail when you start out with a list to choose from for removing clutter.
My gift to you – here is a 30 day “No Fooling, It’s Clutter” Challenge list all ready for you. Free of charge!
It is organized to help you play the game backward or forward or randomly. Just pick a category and get discarding. Oh, and HAVE FUN!
Ready, set, discover your clutter and let go.

PS – Since I’m posting the challenge list on the first day. I must, therefore, prove I’m playing the game right?
My Day 1 – 30 books. Here is my discard pile (model is not for discarding, he keeps me on track. When the yawn arrives, it is time to move on to the next category)!
Confession from a bookaholic…this is the 3rd round of sorting through books to discard. When I first counted (pre-discarding), I had over 400 books in the house. I recently remodeled my home office and limited the location for the books I wanted to keep. I’ve kept 80-90 of my favorites. That’s ¼ of the books, so not bad for minimizing my collection. Hmmm…guess the next time I play the game, I might just have to start with books again!?! What did you discard today? One item or 30? Great job!
