As I reflect on what has worked and what hasn’t worked for gaining followers, I keep coming back to the same old question. How do you gain blog followers?
When I stopped making it way to difficult, I realized, it’s simple really.
Really?
Well…yeah, but, I’m not positive…all I do know is this bit of wise advice from someone (aka, me) who has been all alone in the blogging world for a really long time. Until the day I discovered the secret weapon.
My secret weapon to gain followers is…
It sure the heck isn’t by sitting alone in your own little world.
Duh…
It comes down to the fact that you just need to Be NICE.
Or as Dessy, say, ‘Get off your arse…’
and take a stroll on the wild side (read other blogs) and reach out to bloggers, interact with them, and then you will meet your followers.
While we’re at it, it is always fun to hear what other people who have lots of followers have to say about gaining followers!
My favorite follower quotes speak well to the quest for followers. Hope you enjoy the photos chosen to represent the circles (inspiration thanks to Cee’s Black & White Photography Challenge this week – Circles and Curves) in our world and how when we connect as we reach out in life to meet people, our kindness (like Anita says to do!) to one another builds a following of really awesome people!
Stay true to yourself, engage with your followers, and ignore the critics. – Ella Woodward
It always surprises me how much my followers appreciate how candid my photos are – they may not have a particularly unique subject, but it’s more about the light you shed on the subject than the subject itself. – Connor Franta
Authenticity is the alignment of head, mouth, heart, and feet – thinking, saying, feeling, and doing the same thing – consistently. This builds trust, and followers love leaders they can trust. – Lance Secretan
Today, you can gain a bunch of followers doing a dance in a cute bikini, and suddenly you’re a superstar. Or you could just be a beautiful girl posting pictures of yourself and get discovered that way. – Amber Valletta
I feel like everybody, whether you have one follower or a million followers, has the opportunity to either positively or negatively affect people. – Tyler Oakley
My best advice for anyone out there that feels like, ‘I don’t have a million followers so why should I even give it a shot,’ is that it’s not about the numbers – it’s about the engagement. That’s how you can build influence. – Michelle Phan
Honestly, what I have the most fun with, I just hang out with my cat, and I go online, and I talk to my followers, and I have real conversations with them. – Michelle Phan
Post Inspiration – #MyBlogMyWritingStyle 30 Day Blogging Challenge (rules here…we’re on the home stretch now…3 days left starting tomorrow!) word of the day: Followers – and the question of the day “What is your favorite way to gain followers?”
PS – Share your tips on how to gain followers! Dessy hopes that you enjoyed her bikini shot! 😉 As always, I love to hear your thoughts!!
And pitch your best posts to WordPress Discover–for those who use WordPress. You never know when they might find that your post has the potential to strike a chord with many, many followers!
Oh…my…I had no idea what the Discover tab was for…LOL, THANK YOU for pointing it out!! The tears of (embarrassment) laughter are rolling down my face. :-)! So do tell me more about the steps to doing so!?!
Haha, I’ve been here forever and didn’t know either, assumed it was for paying customers!
LOL – The things we learn when we chat away with other bloggers!!
I really like the photo I’ll call, “Duh” 🙂
Aw, thank you, Dessy appreciates the kudos! 🙂
🙂
Its a shame that Dessy is so unloved and undernourished. Love her bikini shot. You bring light, truth and laughter to a dreary day in Iowa. Hope you weekend is marvelous.
Thank you, Anita, we’re happy to share some sunshine your way! Hope you have a great weekend too!
Shelley, I love this post. It is always the question people ask…”how many followers do you have?” My answer…”not as many as I would like.”
You also find the best challenges!
I am also very intrigued in the Discover tab so I will need to find out how to pitch to them.
Thank you, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and that you enjoy the challenges! When I find out more about the Discover tab, I’ll share away!
Thank you!
Good points! As with almost everything: common sense rules. If you want likes, comments, and follows… then spend the time doing that for others, rather than complaining how people aren’t flocking to your posts by magic. This reminds me of how people used to ask me in school how I did so well on tests. Um, by taking lots of notes and studying a ton. Ugh, they didn’t want to hear that! Okay then, I have a magic spell to sell ya, how about that? 😂😂😂
Thank you! LOL! You’re brilliant! 🙂
Wonderful photos! And ideas…yes who would have thought – be nice – of course. And I also had not noticed the Discovery tab, but when I clicked on it…noticed I am following it already! So I wonder…now what? LOL
Thank you! :-)! Me too…hopefully, we’ll figure out what to do next!!
Another good post Shelley.
Thank you!! 🙂
You are welcome. 😊
Dessy is so adorable! I do agree on being yourself and reaching out to other bloggers in order to gain followers. It’s really nice to not just drop by but to also engage in a conversation. A compliment goes a long way.
Thank you, Winnie! You’re right on target! When time allows me, I love to do that – you’re a role model at it, I’m always inspired by how you’re able to find the perfect words of encouragement each time you comment! Thank you for all the sunshine you spread!
Awww! You’re welcome, Shelley! And thank you! Lately, I don’t have the luxury of time. I’m now the official caregiver of our mom. Blogging helps me keep me sane. 😉 So you will see me drop by your blog once in a while. Happy weekend!
Aw, sorry to hear your time availability has changed. Your mom is so lucky to have you to care for her. You won’t regret the time you have to do so. I know when I did for my mom, it was hard, but in retrospect, I’m glad I was able to be there for her. That’s when I started blogging – it definitely helped with my sanity :-)! Take care, you’re always welcome here 🙂 Happy Weekend to you too!
Thank you for the words of encouragement, Shelley! I appreciate your advices and comments. 😊
You’re welcome! 🙂
Beautiful photos Shelley! I find blogging circles and reciprocal visitors work.
Thank you, and, yes, I agree with you. Thank you for stopping by to share your thoughts.
