This time of the year, I’m in awe to wake up and see what happens while I’m sleeping the night away.
Seeing what wakes up with the sights and sounds of our little world, makes me happy.
The fog begins to roll in as night gives way to the morning light. Leaving a couple of deer out there to enjoy munching just a bit longer in the dew-drenched grasses of the field. After that, they’ll run off to the woods to hide and nap for the day. (See two of them to the right of the tree?)
I said goodnight to a few things in my yard before retiring to the house – it was a long day yesterday! I was done working and my plants in the yard were ready to do their work while I slept.
The Hostas spend the nights reaching up to the sky through the cool spring ground.
The persistent bearded faced violets pop up through the rocks.
I love how they paint my flower beds purple and green. I really should thin them, but I haven’t the heart to do it.
And my bleeding heart plant has blossomed this year. It is loaded with hearts! I’m so tickled pink about it!
It has developed its small little chains of hearts ready to drip as they open up across their branches.
Soon they’ll be completely open. I better be ready to catch a photo or two of them when they do.
To me, every hour of the day and night is an unspeakably perfect miracle. – Walt Whitman
Until then, let the day begin. Ah…yes…lovely spring…

PS – What is your favorite part of spring? Are you a morning or a night person? As long as it isn’t just raining and raining and raining, I’m sure you enjoy spring too. We’re due for that kind of rainy weather this weekend. I’m soaking up the sun along with the plants in the meantime! Happy Wednesday all!
I love these photos – I love fog! I am a total morning person.
Thank you, Dan – me too – fog and mornings and a cup of coffee 😉 Oh, and my camera!
Wonderful Spring Shelley 🙂 you have it all
Thank you, Brian! Yes, this time of year I feel spoiled by our weather. 🙂
These photos are absolutely stunning, Shelley. They remind me of what I love most about Spring!!
Thank you, Donna. I’m glad you enjoyed them. Spring is a special time of year.
The best part of Spring! Stunning photos – what fun to watch the changes from day to day. Morning to night 🙂 I think I am an afternoon person. Not too early. Not too late.
Thank you 🙂 You know some days I’m a middle of the day kind of want to take a nap person…does that count?
It sure does!
Lovely photos Shelley! Enjoy your day. 😎
Thank you, John – you too! Enjoy 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous photos, Shelley. You’ve outdone yourself!
I’m an everyday of spring person! And I’m neither an early morning or late night person! I love early morning air and your photos!
And you have a lovely spring in your step – I can tell by your optimism ;-)! Thank you, glad you enjoyed the photos!
Hi Shelley, Gorgeous, feel good photos. I love your quote by Walt Whitman, finding beauty in every moment. I have recently met you, Shelley. You strike me as a Morning person, or maybe an All Day person 🙂I am definitely a morning person. I love the quiet when I hear only the birds chirping and whistling. A lovely Spring post:) Erica
Hi Erica! Thank you, I’m happy to hear you enjoyed my photos. Yes, Walt was a wise man. Yes, I’m a morning person. I enjoy the same things about the morning that you do – listening to the birds singing is such a cheery way to start the day. Thank you for stopping by – I’m glad we’ve met here in the blogosphere. I’ll be by your blog to check out your photos too! Stay in touch!
I am a morning person and I ran around so much this morning taking pictures at the park that I wore myself out and now I am going to look at those pictures in the morning and not tonight – a first for me waiting until the next day. Query: does that mean I got a lot of fresh air and that’s why I am so tired, or I am getting old? The bleeding hearts dripping flowers were just exquisite Shelley and I hope the rain does not pelt those dripping hearts off the stem.
LOL – I always tell myself that if my day wore me out and I feel great in that tired state, I was in my creative, soul-filling mode for the day! A lot of fresh air and wind and fun is a great way to tire yourself out in a good way. Hope you slept well too! I haven’t checked on my flowers yet…we did get quite the storm early this morning…
I kept nodding off and got up at 4:00 this morning as I wanted to look at yesterday’s photos and leave early. Yes, the fresh air is great for you. We’re having storms tonight – hoping to get done here on WP and peek at my pics I took this morning before I unplug the computers.
Such a wonderful relaxing post. The start of a new day, the joy of the work getting the day before, although there is always more it seems. My grass got cut today as rain again is coming. But maybe tomorrow I can play some. We will see. Have another great morning tomorrow.
Thank you, Anita! Glad you enjoyed the post. Mr. cut our grass too – just in time for the rain that down-poured on it early this morning. We needed rain, not necessarily that hard, so we’ll see what survived. Hope you had a great day and that today the rain you got helped your plants grow!
Quite inspiring post. The things that happen and change whiile we are asleep.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you, and you’re welcome. I’m touched to have provided you with some inspiration :-)!
Very lovely captures 🙂
Thank you, Hammad!
