Rule # 1 – as a cat, it’s imperative to make your presence known.
Especially when the table has been dusted and ready for setting, (aka, sitting upon).
Our dining room table is one of the finest catwalks around the place.
Rule # 2 – be the first of any party to check things out.
I’ve got that one covered, don’t ya know? I like to make sure no new cats are in town and that the snacks are cat-friendly. The party must not go on until my stamp of approval has taken place. Thus my sneaking in early.
With the click of the paparazzi’s camera, I know I’ve been spotted. Not only is she the photographer, she’s the setup crew, too. She rarely appreciates my help when it comes to tabletop preparation. I’ll never understand the propensity to keep this elite surface clean before humans eat. WTH?
I’m torn if I should stay or go? As space was opening up, I’ve been admiring it from afar. And it is pretty darn nice now that I’ve gotten a close up look.
Rule # 3 – when you arrive, sit very, very, very still.
Maybe she was taking a picture of something else? It’s hard to tell, there’s so much holiday crap sitting around – she’s been taking pictures a lot lately. Sometimes I’m in the pictures and sometimes I’m not. Such is the life of a rich and famous cat.
On the other hand…it may have been that I was just a tad bit preoccupied finding this precious spot? Ah, yes, right here in the middle of the table is perfect. I’ll use my coy glance to see if she’s looking at me or something else.
Rule # 4: Always pose (when you’re adorable, you get away with things).
My tactic is to add the finishing touch of making sure my tail is all curled up around my paws. She’ll no doubt notice I’m in my special, nobody notices me, napping pose – the one that is always worth the click, click, click sound you’ll hear. I’ve been practicing my skills at this for a long time. Almost have it perfected. The surface I’m sitting on makes all the difference.
At this time of year, I tend to blend in when I look like the little elf on the shelf guy. He gets to stay where ever he wants! He is cute. I try not to get too jealous when she moves him around and he gets to be in the pictures. He never changes things up, he always uses that frozen smug little smile. Whatever…it appears to work for ya buddy…
Shh…the camera is back on me. I must remember to be quiet, and not move. If I slowly close my eyes, I know she’ll walk away…this part of the technique works for getting to stay right where I want. It hasn’t failed me yet.
I’m clever that way!
Yes, cat’s rights to the tabletop rules prevail and history has repeated itself – Tizzie’s style never goes out of vogue. I can’t wait to see the proofs…ta-tah for now!
Your cat is so pretty! Noce photos
Thank you, she appreciates your kind words!!
You are an adorable kitty and thanks for the rules. I would share them with my two felines, but they are not allowed in the kitchen or up on the table. I know, so inhumane, but they tend to get in too much trouble. Besides, they have two very tall cat trees that gives them a better view and place for “mom” to take photos.
Thank you, for the compliment! We missed those rules growing up – our master (the head of the house) encouraged our leaping and jumping skills – which, by the way, are quite impressive. I’m sure the humans wish you would’ve been around to teach them a lesson or two back then! If you have any tips that would work now that we rule the house, do share!
