My day started earlier than I planned. At least it was a dreamy kind of wake up call. The animals were lined up, all nice and neat in a row on the bed, sleeping quietly, and then Batman appeared.
After I rubbed my eyes, I realized, that Nah, it was just the silhouette of Dessy and her loud purr. She appears out of nowhere and does that when I stir. In my semi-awake state, I swore it was Christian Bale staring down at me. See 2:57 of this clip for the sound effects.
It wasn’t light enough out, and not the time to get up, yet…so I thought. I wanted more sleep. I closed my eyes again and tried to ignore her. She quieted for a brief period of time and then got frustrated and stood up, turned to walk away to the end of the bed. I tried to stay still. I dozed off again.
Her movement nudged me awake again, and when I peeked through one eyelid, I saw in the distance another dreamy silhouette. It was a large elephant with its trunk up in the air, swinging it from side to side.
I rubbed my eyes, looked around to make sure I wasn’t in Africa. I was awake now and realized, ‘holy sh*t that was scary!’. I shook my head and sat up. I calmed down and stretched before climbing out of bed.
Sigh…wait, aren’t elephants good luck? Maybe today will be my lucky day if I get up early?
While I do loath being awakened before I’m ready, today I was glad to awaken from the horror of a charging elephant. Thankfully it was just Dessy. I kid you not, her image in the dark, as she was walking away from me was compatible with an image of an elephant.
Dessy is a large cat, but she is friendly and simply struts around to make sure her presence is known.
Alright, I stand corrected, she is plain old fat…and relentless when it comes to breakfast time. There’s really no point in dragging her wake up procedure along more than humanly possible to ignore. It is best to just give in. I gave in and got up.
The morning routine commenced, and she and her sister were fed and off to dump a lump or two in the litter box. Meanwhile, I took Copper outside to do his business and was pleasantly surprised. I was lucky after all, the early sunrise was gorgeous.
The silhouettes of the morning rows of trees and power lines against pinks of the sky, sprinkled with messy rows of clouds dancing in the sky reaching their way up to the moon were breathtaking.
In a moment or two, the gorgeous colors and moon faded away as they blended into the sky with the brightness from the sun. I was fortunate – I was there to see the golden moment. A nice way to start my day.
Yep, I was lucky today to be awakened early.

PS – Have you ever dreamed your pets are scary visions like elephants or Batman? What is your scariest dream? Did you get up early to catch the sunrise this morning? What lucky thing happened to you today?
Your sunrise photos are amazing. I was lucky today to see them.
Aw, thank you! 🙂 Have you chatted with an elephant yet?
Not an older one. 🙂
I’d be curious to hear what an older elephant would have for advice about skin that sags on our legs as we age?
Maybe a lot of Botox?
Yikes…I might have to just live with the well-earned grooves! 😉
Ha ha! Also–so sorry. I think my previous reply was sent to you twice. It didn’t register in my computer the first time.
It’s just my blog – sometimes it gets hung up and is waiting for me to do something to release comments. It can be so annoying!
No worries.
A ton of Botox?
LOL! That’s hilarious!
Oh my, thank you for the giggle!!
You’re welcome, glad you giggled!
