A Two-minute post

Can I share a two-minute post with you?

A short post.  Not related at all to George Orwell, by the way.

A short post, by me…just little ol’ me, who tends to ramble?

Can I do it?

The clock is ticking…

Meanwhile, at the trail cam…every day, we can see my main man (aka, Mr.) using his two legs.  He walks out here and fills two creature feeders.  (A Go Fund Me account hasn’t been started yet…)

His activity is key to inviting all kinds of furry and feathery couples to our yard.

Two sets of doves…and then I lose count, they multiply fast.

Two crows that multiply fast, too.  They seem to be fine with the two rabbits.  They even chase them.

Two rabbits by day, and by night.

Two red-headed woodpeckers, one on the post, the other in flight.

Me too…it’s time to go – two minutes are up!

PS – Happy Tuesday – thanks for stopping by!  Isn’t that cool to see the deer with horns?

  1. That’s quite the fertile landscape you have there! Horns are an unusual sight – very cool. Another enjoyable nature walk – thank you 🙂

    1. So it seems we do. It’s been fun seeing what the trail cam picks up. We’re ready to delete a million or so (Mr.’s description) photos of the doves and the crows. Glad you enjoyed the post.

  2. Amazing how the female cardinal is almost camouflaged. I had to really look to find her.

Are those mourning doves? We have them because I can hear them, but I never get a chance to see them.

By far, my favorites are the pictures of the crows. They’re fascinating. They spend the winter around here (some live here year-round).

All these pictures are great, especially the bird pictures. I guess birds are more my thing…

    1. Yes, I did a double take to find the female Cardinal too. We’re quite pleased the couple have decided to visit us.
Yes, they are Mourning Doves. We hear them all the time, they have multiplied this summer, guess they like the feed Mr. has put out.
Crows – they are plentiful here as well. We used to just have the 3 amigos – now there are 9 I think? They’re here year-round too.
Glad you enjoyed the bird photos – our trail cam does surprisingly well catching them.

  3. Your photos, delightful always for this city slacker, reminding me of the wonderful plural: “a murder of crows.”

P.S. In summer (only) I believe deer with horns are called cantelopes, but only behind their back, and it’s never a good idea to be there.

    1. Thank you, Ellen, I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.
LOL – I haven’t heard that before? We call the male deer, Bucks around here. Their antlers grow, and this guy looks like he still has some fuzz on the horns too. But, it is hard to get great details in a trail cam.

  4. Hmmm…maybe we should put up a trail camera under our feeders, especially for night time. Great picture of the two pilated woodpeckers, those guys are shy and hard to photograph, especially nice to see that long wingspan! And the buck! Oh my goodness, he’s a good looking guy. The deer…I’m not hitting on your husband, though he has nice legs.

    1. We are pleasantly surprised by what we’re catching on the trail cam. Well worth the $ spent. Mr. doesn’t think we need to save all the bird photos – a million (his count) is way too many. So that’s what the woodpecker species is? I was pleased to see that photo. We see them flying around, and they attack the cedar corners on our house, so we’re not in love with them, but they are quite impressive in flight. LOL – I’ve always told Mr. that his legs are nice, I’m sure he’s blushing at your comment. 😉

    1. Thank you, Ally – it makes our empty nest yard playful again. Luckily the bird food costs less than it did to fill teenager’s appetites. 😉

  5. Great shots Shelley. Woodpeckers are so big!! Good on you for looking after the birds. Two minute look and write over 🙂

    1. We are getting quite the variety. Mr. uses just Wild Bird Seed mix. The last bag he bought had wild fruit in it too. All different kinds of birds seem to be flocking to it, and the deer like the easy pickings too.
