EverydayAdventures2017 – Road trip (eclectic style)
The best part of a road trip is discovering unplanned for stops along the way. My companion and I planned three stops. We ended up making six stops. It turns out that the three unplanned for stops made the trip more than okay!
When the trip involves a chance to discover whimsy and anything eclectic…well, let’s just say – we.must.stop. It is like the car just drives us there automatically. Sometimes we need a little help from the navigational app on the phone. Again, that’s okay.
Where did we go and what eclectic hot spots did we find on our road trip?
First stop – Luck, WI
While eating breakfast at the Café Wren (read more about that here), we overheard some people sitting near us on the patio talking about their guests needing to stop at Junque in the Trunque next time they come to Luck. We had no idea what it was when we heard them talking about it. We dismissed it as interesting but something we likely wouldn’t see on our first trip there. But, as luck would have it when we were heading out-of-town, there it was! A big pink and black bold sign for Junque in the Trunk. Jackpot!
The sign said, open and there was a little kid riding a tricycle out front as we drove by. So of course, we looked at each other and said, “Let’s go back and check it out!” At the next intersection, we turned around and headed back. We pulled into the lot, just like we had planned it all along. We are so glad we stopped.
It was fun to rummage around the shop. It was an eclectic lover’s dream spot. My travel companion found a couple of things that fit her “had to buy factor” and made her smile too!
We loaded the treasures up in the trunque of our car and headed out for the next stop. We’d both recommend stopping at Junque in the Trunque when traveling through Luck, WI. You might get lucky to find some great things just like we did!
Next stop was the ArtZ Studio in Amery, WI. They have a beautiful display of pictures, artwork, cards, and more. So many creative art pieces to admire.
We both found a few cards to buy. One from the artist below and the second one from Jan L. Killian – Woolyfrog Arts. The studio is definitely a great place to stop by and browse if you’re in the area.
Next, we headed out of Amery toward Baldwin, WI. We got a little lost trying to find our next stop. Never fear, there’s always a railroad crossing or two that you can cross to find your way.
Always look both ways though…never know when a train is coming.
After our slight detour, we were back on track and found the Paisley Cow, LLC. We just had to take a picture of the decorated cow out front.
The Paisley Cow shop definitely has an eclectic mix of items. We both found items we just couldn’t leave behind. The building is pretty big, with quite a few rooms to go through, so plan on staying awhile to shop around if you go there.
I found this great little flower-pot on the 50% off table. It fits well in my office (soon, my plant will have enough roots to transfer to some dirt!). My travel companion found a great little shelf to go along with her previous purchases from the day. Forgot to take a picture of that!
We were feeling like our road trip shopping excursion was a success, so we headed out-of-town to our destination of the day. Ahh…it was a beautiful day to enjoy the scenery along the way.
Good thing my travel companion was there to take pictures as I drove!
Wisconsin sure is pretty in the summer – green fields and blue skies with white fluffy clouds!
We ended our road trip in Chippewa Falls for a stop at River Bend Vineyard & Winery…oh, I already talked about that before (at the end of this post)! Seems to me, the mentioning of a place for great tasting wine again, isn’t a bad thing is it?
Cheers to you! May your road trips always make you smile!
