Do ever want to escape your busy work life and check out the country living? I’ve often wondered what it would be like. I can imagine it would be a lot of work to own a hobby farm. Different than working in corporate world. But the idea of working with the land and animals instead of papers and numbers gives off a certain charm that is very appealing nonetheless. Luck would have it, I got to go on an adventure first hand to see what it is like.
Our friends invited us for dinner and an evening stroll around a quaint hobby farm not far from where we live. I’ve heard about hobby farms but had never been to one before. What a great opportunity to check one out and try something new.
The evening adventure started out with a delicious meal and a glass of our favorite wine before heading out to meet the critters who habitat the hobby farm.
I was in awe of the vintage collectibles scattered about.
As we walked around, I found out you have to look quick to see the cats, and ducks – they are shy I guess.
And the flowers…so many pretty ones to see!
The alpaca was shy too. Looks like it had a haircut not too long ago. Cute though, in a way.
The goats, on the other hand, were very friendly. I would’ve never thought that goats would want Cheerios for a snack? But they came running and were very happy to nibble away.
The chickens weren’t shy either. They mostly just walk around you and cluck, cluck, cluck. I’ll have to go back soon to get some fresh eggs the owners put out to sell daily. In the upper right corner of the picture, you can see one eye of the alpaca peeking around the edge of the silo.
There was so much to see, I just took it all in as we strolled around. I looked up and almost missed seeing these baby swallows on their nest. They get very quiet when someone is walking around below them.
EverydayAdventures2017 – Try something new was a success. I enjoyed the short little visit to the hobby farm. It was a great way to try something new. It was so peaceful, I’ll be back, I’m sure there is more there to discover. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll even try feeding those goats?!?
