A day trip from Wisconsin to Jamaica

When in Wisconsin, and its a blizzard out, do like the birds do, and fly south.  Or, better yet, go to Jamaica for a day – with the man of your dreams.

Ya, mon, that’s what I did.

*Warning…this is a mushy post.  For adult eyes only.*

Here’s the real meaty and mushy stuff.

I tell ya, our love is true love.  My Mr.’s melted my heart from the beginning.  He’s a damn good cook and he knows how to take us on travels across the ocean and back in a day.

One of our wedding songs is Angel Eyes by Jeff Healey Band.

I guess I was kind of cute little babe, at one point in my 53 years.

We’re both over 50 and we still look damn young, don’t we?

Mr.:  What would you like for dinner?

Me:  Something Jamaican.

Mr.: Yeah, I read your blog.  What would you like me to make, want soup or something?

Me:  Do you have a recipe for Jamaican Jerk Chicken Soup?

Mr:  I’ll find one.

After he shoveled the walks and blew the snow from the driveway, he checked his supplies in the kitchen and headed off to the grocery store.

Soup recipe found here at Creme de la Crumb.

Before he shoveled, he pointed out to me the cool little snow structure formed by the wind and tiny snowballs that were falling from the sky in the bizarre blizzard we were having (still are).

He knows I love to take weird pictures of things. (Like our shrine of ourselves in our bedroom.  It’s what you do when you have pictures you don’t want to throw away, but not sure you want every visitor to the home to see…).  Plus, it keeps me busy while he does the heavy lifting work.  Our wedding photo is framed in a 75-year-old frame (or more), and the furniture, I guess is much older than that, I’ve had it my whole life, and it was my grandparents before that.  So yeah, it’s old, too.

Mr.:  You’re not going to pout around all day are you?

Me:  No, do you have something better I could do?  I already cleaned, and now I’m washing all the bedding.  I’ve made the resort as nice as possible.

Mr:  Want a martini?

Me:  Sure, why the hell not, but just one with two olives.

Mr:  Want to play darts?

Me:  Sure, I guess so.  I haven’t played that for a long time and you’ve made such a nice cabinet for it.

IMG_1065c

Mr:  Man, you are rusty.  What the hell, you’re missing more than hitting it?

Me:  I’m positive the martini will eventually help.  At least I’m consistent in the area I hit when I do hit it.

Me:  Well, I think I’ve lost enough now, 0-7 games to be exact.  You practice a lot, don’t you?  Are you going to make dinner soon?

Mr:  Yep.

Me:  Want me to help?

Mr.:  No, you just relax, it was tough losing so many games.

Me:  You got that right.

Mr:  Want a Red Stripe and Ting to go with the soup?

Me:  Yes, that would be great.

Mr:  Dinner is served.  Hope it is good.

Me:  Oh, my gosh, it tastes just like we’re in Jamaica.  You’re the best.

Mr:  Yep, it is damn good.  Cheers to you and Jamaica!

And, as Tizzie would say, okay…that’s enough of the sappy shit…

My, oh, my, traveling from Wisconsin from Jamaica in a day is shocking stuff.

Not quite as shocking as waking up the next day back in Wisconsin to even more snow.

Oh, and by the way, I tried to help out with snow removal this morning.  We got 6-7 inches of snow overnight and the Mr. was still sleeping, and of course, Copper had to go out.  So it was just little old me to the rescue.  I put my winter coat on over my jammies, pulled on my boots, and tried to open the door, and couldn’t.  The snow had drifted up against the door.  I kept shoving it open to move the snow and finally got it wide enough so I could get out.  I shoveled a small path for Copper, as he watched me attempt my heroic feat.  I let him out.  He peed and got done with his business, so we headed back in.  When I tried to open the door, I discovered I had accidentally pulled it off the track.  That funny noise it made when I was shoving it open made more sense.  Damn ice and snow.  So I spent 5-10 minutes trying to figure that out and finally got it back on track.

That was exhausting, and holy shit, it’s too early to deal with that much snow, so I went back to bed.  Snow shoveling is best left for the pros.
